FAQ Board

What does the RAYBA Board do?

The RAYBA board is the decision making arm of our youth basketball program. It is through the board that programs are designed, planned for and operated. The board determines the costs necessary to run each of these programs and sets applicable fees to cover the costs. Without a board there would be no association.

What does a Board Member do?

RAYBA meets on a regular basis to review issues and concerns surrounding our programs. Participation by board members during these meetings helps to find the best solutions for our organizations. Besides meetings, each board member will be assigned a task or area. You can find this season’s assignments on the Board Member page. These assignments are held by the board member for the year. After the election of new members, new assignments will be given to all Board of Directors.

How long is the board term?

Each board member is elected to a 3 year term. Each year we elect up to 6 members; which allows us to overlap the terms and ensure that 2/3 of the board carries over from the previous year. This helps in continuity and transition of assignments to new members.

Who should volunteer to serve on the RAYBA board?

We are always looking for members who have an interest in youth basketball, have organizational skills that can be leveraged in the operation of the programs, and have a passion for continued improvement of a youth program that has already become one of the top youth programs in the metro area! In order to balance our interests, we look to 3-4 of the new board members to have players at the In-House level.

How do I apply for the RAYBA board?

All you need to do is complete the board application and email to info@rayba.org.  The application can be found by clicking Here.  Your application will be reviewed and you will be contacted to come in for a brief interview.

How do I request to have an item for discussion added to the board meeting agenda?

Any member of the Association may request to have an item for discussion added to the board meeting agenda.  Such requests must be received in writing to info@rayba.org at least 72 hours prior to the next meeting.  All requests will contain the person(s) name, email, and phone number that will be addressing the board, and a brief explanation of the item to be discussed.  The number of items already on the agenda and the timeliness and relevance of the topic will determine if/when the topic will be added to a meeting and the length of time allotted on the agenda.

Any other questions?
